Water Jet Cutters
Water jet cutting is the process by which materials (and sheet metals in particular) are cut by a either a very high pressure jet of water, or a mixture of water and an abrasive susbstance (the latter being known as ‘Abrasive Cutting’).
Water jet cutting is often used during fabrication of machine parts. It is the preferred method when the materials being cut are sensitive to the high temperatures generated by other methods. Water jet cutting is used in various industries, including mining and aerospace, for cutting, shaping, and reaming.
How it works
Water jet cutting uses the principle of passing high pressure water through a small nozzle or orifice to accelerate it to an extremely high speed. A KMT Intensifier achieves this by using a hydraulically powered piston to force the water through the nozzle. This high speed water jet is focused to a thin beam, and cute through the work piece placed in its trajectory.
The major benefit of having water jet cutting is that is doesn’t leave a heat affected zone, meaning it does not change the intrinsic properties of the material as it cuts through it. This means that Sharp corners, bevels, pierce holes, and shapes with minimal inner radii are all possible.
Water jet cutting can also create intricate cuts in material. With specialized software and 3-D machining heads, complex shapes can be produced.
What can you expect from us?
At African Machine Supplies, we aim to provide the best solution for your engineering job. All of our water jet cutter are of the highest quality, and we stake our reputation on every sale.
- Durability
Our water jet cutters are designed to last. When you are in the middle of the job you need machinery you can rely on. With regular maintenance, our water jet cutters will outlast most of your other equipment - Economic Viability
Unlike laser cutters and plasma cutters, water cutting does not have as very large energy drain, and thus utilising a water jet cutter is more cost effective. - Large Variety of cutting solutions
As a water jet cutting does not create a heat affected zone, many cuts can be done (including 3D cutting) that cannot be done with other cutting methods.
Using market leader KMT intensifiers make the range of water jet cutting units reliable and economically to operate and maintain. 2D and 3D cutting options are available. Order yours today!
